Police in the French capital Paris used tear gas and water cannons to disperse Protesters of the "yellow jackets" who were protesting the second week of fuel prices.

Clashes broke out in the Champs-Elysees area, where demonstrators tried to break through a security cordon imposed by police around sensitive locations.

About 5,000 demonstrators gathered in the area. Authorities arrested at least 18 people after the clashes.

Organizers described the protests today as a "second phase" of their ongoing campaign.

Officials said 19 people were injured in the clashes, including four police officers.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner accused the demonstrators of influencing the leader of the far-right National Rally Party, MarineLe Pen. Which he accused on Twitter of lack of trust.

Demonstrations were launched throughout the country. Roadblocks were established to slow traffic. Some highway toll booths have been seized to allow cars to pass.

130 were arrested in general, after some clashes.

Protests and violence have begun on a smaller scale since last week. Where about 280,000 people participated, more than 600 people were injured and two people were killed on Saturday.
