British lawmakers: Julian Assange must be tried By Sweden courts

LONDON  (AP) - More than 70 British lawmakers urged the British government to make sure WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is facing Swedish justice.

British lawmakers wrote in a letter sent to the Home Secretary Sajid Javid: "We are writing to ask you to do everything in your power to support the guarantee of Assange delivery to Sweden"

Parliamentarians "do not assume Assange is guilty," but believe that "justice must be done."

"We must not ignore any rape charges made by the Swedish authorities, but the only request for extradition comes from the United States," Shadow Interior Minister Diane Abbott wrote on Twitter.

Asang, 47, has been charged with rape and sexual harassment in Sweden since 2015. Sweden abandoned prosecution in the second case in May 2017, and no progress has been made on the case.

After Assange's arrest, the victim's lawyer asked the Swedish authorities to reopen the investigation into the case, Swedish authorities confirmed they were considering the request.

Asang was arrested, At the request of America to extradite him on Electronic piracy charges, He will be tried by a British court on May 2.

The founder of WikiLeaks was arrested on Thursday at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he had been seeking refuge for seven years from a British arrest warrant for rape and sexual harassment in Sweden, and also by the United States for his extradition.
