Tourists visiting
the United Arabs Emirates (UAE)
will be able to extend their stay for up to five years as part of new visa
regulations The, UAE Cabinet agreed, to create a multi-entry tourist
visa for a period of 5 years for all nationalities, with the aim of
supporting tourism systems and emphasizing the UAE's position as a global
tourist destination for all, according to a statement quoted by the official
Emirates News Agency.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the Emirates, Prime Minister
and Ruler of Dubai, presided over the first meeting of the Council of
Ministers in 2020, according to what he published in a tweet through his
official account on Twitter, affirming through it that "2020 will be a
different year."
In another tweet, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said: "We adopted today the
change of the tourist visa system in the country, so that the duration of
the tourist visa will be five years, multi-use, for all nationalities."
Boost tourism
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid added that the UAE receives more than 21 million
tourists every year, and they aim to establish the country as a major global
tourist destination.

Tourist visas in the UAE vary in terms of length of stay and number of entry
times, according to what is written on the official
website of the government of the United Arab Emirates.
to travel to the UAE on a tourist visa are required to apply for a 30-day
visa through the UAE embassy. According to the UAE government, portal,
tourists going to the UAE are required to provide a passport that is valid
for at least six months at the time of entry and provide proof of
pre-arranged sponsorship from a hotel or tour operator. The visa lasts for
60 days from the day it is issued.
This includes travellers from Britain, Ireland, Australia, China and Hong
Kong, among others. However, this is going to change if Sheikh Mohammed's
new announcement is anything to go by.
Other nationalities require paid-for visas, costing for example $10 for
48-hours or $30 for 96-hours and $90 for 30 days. This includes Pakistan,
India and the Philippines and others.
Who is eligible for the five-year visa?
According to UAE media reports the terms and conditions for getting the
five-year visa will remain the same as those in place for all other types of
tourist visas. It is, however, not clear if there will be a visa application
fee and no other details have yet been released.
