Several people were wounded in a shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal
Center in Virginia on Friday and the authorities detained a suspect, police
said.
The shooter who worked at the public facilities died. The president said the
gunman had been fired "indiscriminately".Virginia, police Chief James
Cervera told reporters.
"This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach," said
Mayor Bobby Dyer. "The persons concerned are our friends, co-workers,
neighbors and colleagues."
The Virginia Beach Police Department said in a series of Twitter tweets that
a person fired at the number two building in the city center and advised
people to avoid the area, Reuters said.

A public works employee, a local news anchor of NBC television, said
employees heard gunshots when they were on their desks and added that they
saw a woman seriously injured on the ladder, according to the WAVY-TV
network.

According to a local station of the network "ABC", that two people were shot
in the local hospitals.

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said on Twitter: that his team was "actively
monitoring the situation in Virginia Beach" and urged the public to keep a
distance from the area and "follow all instructions."
