Just 50 meters separated the Russian destroyer admiral vinogradov from the uss chancellorsville warship in the Philippine Sea early this Friday morning. According to CNN

The Russian destroyer and the American ship blame each other for the maneuver, which could have caused a very serious international incident. Russia says that her boat was forced to do the maneuver because the Americans were making it difficult for her. U.S. Navy claim that Russia is responsible for what happened.

Russia has expressed its protest over the incident. " the US warship had "suddenly changed direction and crossed the path of admiral vinogradov just 50m away," forcing the Russian crew to make a quick manoeuvre, the crew of admiral vinogradov was forced to perform an emergency maneuver"says a statement from the Russian Pacific Fleet cited by TASS news agency

the Russian Pacific Fleet has filed a complaint with the command of the US vessel. They point out that their action was "unacceptable".

The U.S. Navy rejects the Russian version said  a Russian destroyer almost collided with one of its guided missile cruisers in the Philippine Sea in an incident it denounced as “unsafe and unprofessional”.

“While operating in the Philippine Sea, a Russian Destroyer Udaloy I DD 572 made an unsafe maneuver against USS Chancellorsville,” U.S. Seventh Fleet spokesman Commander Clayton Doss said.

The Russian destroyer came to within 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 meters) of the Chancellorsville, he said.

This incident has been able to climb very fast between two countries that have an increasingly tense relationship, but this is not the first time something similar has happened. Washington and Moscow have been blamed in other incidents of dangerous military maneuvers at sea and in the air. In November 2018, the United States said a Russian plane intercepted one of its planes over the Black Sea, a move they described as "irresponsible." Russia assured that there had been "a violation of Russian airspace".
