"Instagram" application is currently testing a new tool that will enable the creator of the content through Reels (short video) clips to make money, in a move similar to the "tipping" feature that was previously introduced by the Facebook, TikTok and Twitter platforms.
The new feature comes in conjunction with leaks revealed by recent American reports that the Instagram Reels feature did not succeed in achieving the hoped for it to compete with the short video Tik Tok.
According to Business Insider, the new Instagram tool called Gifts was discovered and tested for the first time by the famous mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi.
Paluzzi discovered the new feature earlier last month in reverse-engineered versions of the Instagram code that sometimes reveal prototypes of the features being tested, and since then the tool has undergone several changes.
Reverse engineering is a technological term given to the process of analyzing the components and functions of a device or system in order to discover its principles. It is used in software fields and is used to make a new program that performs the same task without copying anything from the original model.

Balouzi explained that the new Gifts feature from Instagram, according to the current data, will allow fans to send payments to content creators via Reels.
For his part, a spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of Instagram, confirmed in an email to Business Insider what Balouzi had revealed about the new feature of the popular Photos app. The spokesperson said that the Gifts feature is currently an internal prototype and is not being tested externally.
Gifts will not be the first feature on Instagram to pay money to the creator, it was preceded by the Badges feature, which gives viewers a way to pay and support content creators through Instagram Live.
The decals are available in three different levels, costing $0.99, $1.99 or $4.99. They appear as one, two, or three hearts next to the commentator's name during a live broadcast, and Meta announced earlier this year that it would not take any commission from any revenue creators earn from badges until 2024.
The announcement of Gifts comes at a time when US reports confirmed that the Reels feature, which it launched in response to the rise of the "Tik Tok" application, did not provide what was hoped for in this regard; Because of the Chinese application's dominance in this area is uncompetitive at the level of numbers.
According to an internal Meta document published by the American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal", Instagram users spend about 17.6 million hours per day watching Reels clips, less than a tenth of Tik Tok’s 197.8 million hours per day on that platform.
